Why Daphne's Bayfront Seawalls Are Failing Now
A lot of Daphne's Mobile Bay seawalls were built 30 to 40 years ago, during the city's first big wave of bayfront development, and many are now reaching the end of their service life at the same time. The original concrete and timber walls along the bluff and lower bayfront were never designed for four decades of tidal cycling, brackish corrosion, and the storm surge events that have rolled through since.
